I realise I'm new to this guild, but I'm not new to raiding guilds. So far, both the raids I have attended have had awful attendance from those signed up, let alone the vast number of people who choose not to go in the first place (which is their choice).
Signing up on the Calendar for an event isn't some sort of safety measure which will guarantee you something interesting to do if you fail to find a group with an UBRS run, it's a commitment you're making to help other people and possibly yourself. If a raid is set to start at Goldshire at 12.00pm, that means 12.00pm SERVER TIME (mouseover the sun next to your minimap and work out your time difference) and it means you have to BE THERE, with REAGENTS FOR SPELLS, FOOD and BANDAGES and whatever else you need for a raid, at 12.00pm server time.
It does not mean you can just "finish up this Strat group".
It does not mean you can just "pop into WSG for some quick honour".
It most certainly does not mean you can do something else and then expect a summon later. If the warlocks can get there on time, so can you.
At the moment, we don't have a raiding system. Gehere might sort one out, or Ladeos in a few weeks time, but I'll say now that with the current lack of commitment/overt self-interest/laziness displayed by the vast majority of people who have failed to attend raids they signed up to, we won't be raiding anything for the next year. There is currently no system to penalise people for failing to attend without an excuse (if you can't make it due for whatever reason, just mail an officer, post it here, or drop someone a tell - before the raid starts). However, from now on I will have my own personal "black list" of people I don't bother helping, consisting of those who have failed two times to turn up to raids they've signed up to, without an excuse.
I've already had the inestimable joy of helping to build a guild up from scratch to raiding MC, and it sucked. I only did it because a lot of friends were in it and needed help. Right now, I barely know any of you, so I don't have that motivation to undergo a lot of hassle simply to start raiding zones I've already raided a lot. I don't have the inclination to hold people's hands whilst they learn how to act in a guild, or accept facile excuses for non-attendance. It's not as if you're being told to attend raids on a compulsory basis, just attend the ones you agree to or let people know that you can't if your circumstances change.
Raid attendance isn't a compulsory thing. You pay to have fun your own way. If you're not interested, don't sign up - and no-one will hold it against you at all. Just don't expect any courtesy from me if I feel you are being repeatedly discourteous to others by signing up and then doing something else.
